Barry Wayne Wilson

Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch Barry Wayne Wilson was born on May 5, 1955, to Leroy and Helen Wilson in Munford, TN. Barry went to his heavenly home on November 21, 2025, at Baptist Hospital in Memphis, TN. Friends are invited to a visitation with the family on Saturday, November 29, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., with the memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m., all at Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch. Barry married Cindy Sullivan on July 1, 1977, and they settled in the Watson community near Byhalia, MS, and resided there for the next 38 years. He leaves behind two children: Wendy Brown (Kevin) of Collierville, TN, and Chris Wilson (Camelle) of Watson, as well as three grandchildren: Malachi Wilson, Olivia Brown, and Kayla Brown. He also leaves his brother, Roy Wilson, of Coldwater, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Dorothy Cates (Charles) and Debra Wilson. Also, Barry leaves behind several beloved cousins in the Munford area, in-laws and outlaws in Desoto County, and many wonderful nieces and nephews, as well as their children and grandchildren. Through Emory Church, Little Britches Rodeo, and Byhalia Sports Association, he enjoyed working with many young people who came to know “Mr. Barry” and who have grown up as part of the extended family. Barry is a member of Emory Independent Methodist Church in Watson, MS. He worked at Northcentral Electric Power Association for over 30 years until he retired in 2021. As a young man, he enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles, racing, and riding horses. In recent years, he would share stories about those days, real or exaggerated, sprinkled with his style of jokes and humor. You could usually find him in his recliner watching Westerns or, on sunny days, in a chair on the back porch. He had a substantial affinity for sweet tea, as well as banana pudding and chicken dumplings. He was a reluctant traveler but often could be convinced to do anything that involved spending time with his grandchildren. He loved his family and will be greatly missed by everyone from close family and friends to acquaintances at restaurants and corner stores he frequented.
