Bill Boggan, Jr.

Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch William Everett Boggan, Jr., 74, of Coldwater, MS, passed away on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. Friends are invited to a visitation with the family on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m., all at Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch. The interment will be at Cockrum Cemetery. Rev. John Kramer and Rev. Stephen Sparks will officiate. Bill was born on January 28, 1950, in Memphis, TN. He was a graduate of Olive Branch High School Class of ’68. He worked for 42 years at Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) as a switchman conductor. He was a member of Cockrum Community Church and proudly served his country in the Air Force National Guard. Bill kept himself busy and could do just about anything. Even if he couldn’t get it done, he’d still try. Bill appreciated any opportunity to spend time outside, whether he was deer hunting, fishing, or just riding the tractor. He loved the summertime and never cared much for the winter. He ran a small farm and enjoyed caring for his cows and the upkeep of the farm. Bill was quick to lend a hand to his neighbors with whatever they needed. He especially enjoyed helping his neighbors start gardens and bush hogging. He was skilled at operating heavy equipment and jumped at the chance to use any. Most of all, Bill loved his family and the life he built with his high school sweetheart, Diane. He spent all of the time he could with his family and would often be found riding the grandkids and great-grandkids around on something, whether it was a four-wheeler or a tractor. Everyone who knew Bill will miss him greatly. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy Jean Boggan and William Everett Boggan, Sr.; and brother, Bob Boggan. Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Diane Boggan of Coldwater, MS; daughter, Kristie Boggan of Hernando, MS; son, Toby Wayne Boggan (Lorri) of Como, MS; granddaughters, Kendal Snyder (Sid) of Olive Branch, MS, and Keely McKee (Clayton) of Southaven, MS; grandsons, Christopher Graham (Nicole) of Coldwater, MS, Dalton Boggan of Nashville, TN, Dakota Boggan and Noah Boggan, of Como, MS, and Grant Boggan (Belle) of Little Rock, AR; great-granddaughters, Sutton Graham of Coldwater and Sloane Snyder of Olive Branch; great-grandsons, Eason Graham and John Briar Graham, both of Coldwater, and Everett Pierce Boggan of Little Rock; sisters, Pam Murphy of Hernando and Debbie Shelton of Starkville, MS; and brother, Steve Boggan of Crenshaw, MS. In lieu of traditional flowers, donations may be made in Bill Boggan’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org) or to the National Kidney Foundation (www.kidney.org). In honor of Bill Boggan's service to our country, the flag of the United States Air Force will be flown at Coleman Funeral Home the day of the service.
