Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch At the early hours on Friday, November 8, 2024, Catherine Allen McColloch, 71, passed away peacefully and comfortably in bed with family by her side. Catherine was born on November 11, 1952, in Memphis, TN, to her late parents, Christine and Charles McColloch. Catherine leaves behind her beloved daughter, Shelby Hobbs, and her niece, Holly Hagerman, who we all believe was that reason she decided to have a daughter of her own. Catherine was recently preceded in death by her big brother, Charles “Chuck” McColloch Jr., who, if he could, would lovingly taunt her for beating her at something once again. Catherine, or better known as Caye, was affectionately named by her family as Director of the Universe, and we will all be a little lost without, but mostly and immensely grateful for, the guidance and love she has provided for not just her remaining family but to those she has befriended and taken into her home. Caye is someone you could call after years; someone that would happily be a listening ear but even happier to give you a full recap of the recipe she recently saw on Food Network. Caye graduated from the University of Memphis with a Masters in Physical Education and had many different careers throughout her life. From regional champion beam gymnast to FedEx trainer to newspaper journalist to prison inmate teacher to PharmCare receptionist, it’s easy to see the intelligence, adaptability, and resilience she embodied. During her later years Caye found friendship and community playing cards at the Southaven Senior Center and was one of, if not the most, vicious Canasta player around. She was and will always be the voice in many of our heads, our guiding light, and the warmth in our hearts. Catherine will be greatly missed by many, including her girls; her honorary son, Austin Haven; her lifelong friends, Sherry Glasgow and Audrey King; her Bunco group new and old; her card ladies; her PharmCare friends; and her most adored cats, Baby Kitty and Duke.
