Cora Gunn Tucker

Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch After a lengthy illness, Cora Tucker (nee Gunn) passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026, surrounded by family in Olive Branch, Mississippi. A vibrant, faith-filled woman, Cora Eucharia Catherine Mary was born the ninth of ten children to Lt. Colonel Thomas and Elizabeth Mary (Lily) Gunn in Dublin, Ireland, on June 16, 1938. She was a lively, witty child in a loving, creative, musical family. Cora, an accomplished cellist, enjoyed listening to opera and singing with her family, all gifted musicians and singers. The family even made an album as the Singing Gunns. After school, Cora traveled throughout Europe as a model and sales representative for Dorothy Gray Cosmetics. On February 24, 1962, Cora married Elliott W. Tucker, Jr., an American studying medicine in Dublin. Upon completion of medical school and with three small children, the young couple moved to the United States, first to Oyster Bay, New York, and eventually to Sardis, Mississippi, welcoming three more children along the way. A devoted mother to six active children (Elliott, Mark, Elizabeth, Drew, Nicole and Samantha), Cora also managed her husband’s busy medical offices in Sardis, Senatobia and Southaven, Mississippi. In her later years, Cora moved to Olive Branch, Mississippi, where she continued to care for her cherished children and adored grandchildren. Cora was preceded in death by her parents, Tom & Lily Gunn; siblings, Betty, Hugh, Nuala (Scott), Eithne (Riordan), Mairead (Deehan), Bonnie (O’Sullivan), Trudy (Blake); son, Elliott W. Tucker III and grandson, Elliott Peter Mulvey. Cora is survived by her brothers, Tom and John and children, Mark, Elizabeth (Mulvey), Drew, Nicole, and Samantha (Eldred); grandchildren, Logan Tucker, Sebastian Moore, Delany Collins, Joey Mulvey, Conner Tucker, Joshua Tucker, and great-grandchildren, Sophia Tucker and Luca Collins. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Memphis. (4851 Park Ave., Memphis, TN 38117) A reception at Holy Rosary will follow the Mass in the Family Room. In lieu of traditional flowers, the family requests donations to be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org
