Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch It is with great sadness and heaviness of heart that the family of Donald (Don) Warren Green announces his death on Monday, June 1, 2026, at the age of 79. Friends are invited to a visitation with the family on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at Emmanuel United Methodist Church (2404 Kirby Road, Memphis, TN 38119) from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Dr. Rob Martin will officiate. Don was born on March 5, 1947, in Springfield, MO, and has resided in the Memphis and Germantown areas for the last 35 years. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Montgomery, AL, and from Troy University in Troy, AL, with a Bachelor’s degree in History and Education. At Troy University, Don was president of his freshman class and vice president of his sophomore class, all while playing tenor saxophone on the weekends in the first integrated Rock and Roll band in Alabama. He did graduate work at the School of Business at Indiana University. Don taught History at Booker T. Washington High School in Montgomery, AL, and served as Executive Director of Junior Achievement in Augusta, GA. After a few years of teaching, he went on to the Steel Fabrication Business. He was part owner of Southern Steel Company with three partners. Don worked in the Steel Business for a total of fifty years until his retirement in 2018, then retiring again in 2022. Don wrote the music and lyrics and recorded an inspirational CD titled “Second Chance.” He also enjoyed spending time golfing, whether it was somewhere he found through travel or a local golf course. Don had a passion for travel and visited numerous countries. Though Don had various health issues throughout his life, he still lived his life to the fullest and never stopped learning new things. His love for the Lord was shown by his immersion in church leadership and mission work. He served as the chairman of The Friends of Estonia of World Evangelism and the Methodist Church, Chairman of the Positive Christian Singles Class, and facilitated the Blended Family Ministry at Christ Methodist Church. He also served as a Stephen’s Minister and completed his Emmaus Walk #24. Don served in the mission field from 1993 to 2019, traveling to Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and 13 trips to Russia, raising money to build churches and share his faith. He was preceded in death by his mother, Olive Green, and his father, Earl Green of Montgomery, AL. Don is survived by his wife of 36 years, Sandi Loftin-Green of Germantown, TN; Becky Petkewich of Statesboro, GA; brothers, Darrell (Jacque) Green of Spanish Fort, AL, Dwight (Robin) Green of Eagle, ID. Don was also a devoted stepfather to Lisa Jackson of Olive Branch, MS, Luke Loftin of Covington, TN, and Sam Loftin of University Place, WA; with a combined total of 13 grandchildren, eleven girls and two boys; and one great-grandchild.
