Jimmy Ray Gillpatrick

Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch Jimmy Ray Gillpatrick, 83, of Olive Branch, MS, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, in Memphis, TN. Friends are invited to a visitation with the family on Monday, August 31, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., with the service to follow at 10:00 a.m., all at Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch, MS. The interment will be held at Memorial Park Southwoods in Memphis, TN. Dr. Joe Turner of Redemption Church (Hernando) will officiate. Jim was born on January 5, 1943, in Leachville, AR. He graduated from Leachville High School in 1961, where he was a member of the National Beta Club. He also was an Honorable Graduate with a diploma in Architectural Drafting from Draugon’s College of Drafting in 1962. Jim then served our country honorably in the United States Army. He later received his Associate of Science degree in Business Data Processing Technology from State Technical Institute at Memphis in 1973. In 1980, he was awarded a professional Certificate in Data Processing from the Institute for Certification of Computer Professionals. Jim was an excel spreadsheet wizard and thrived on detailed record keeping. He had a long, successful career in IT as a computer programmer and ultimately retired from WorldCom in 1999. In his free time, Jim enjoyed watching sports from the comfort of his recliner and chatting nightly with his best buddy and neighbor, James Ruddle, about the upcoming games to watch. He loved his family and adored his grandson; spending time with him in “Granddaddy’s Workshop” and discussing their shared interests in old and new technologies meant the world to him. Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Frances Lanier Gillpatrick; parents, Lila Pauline McAdams Gillpatrick and David Homer Gillpatrick; brothers, WWII US Army veteran Homer “Junior” Gillpatrick, Jr., WWII US Army veteran J.L. “Jack” Gillpatrick, Pat “Princess” Gillpatrick, and Carl “Teddy” Gillpatrick. Jim was survived by daughter, Susan Gillpatrick of Memphis, TN; son, William Crosno (Melissa) of Hernando, MS; grandson, Matthew Crosno of Tupelo, MS; and a host of nieces and nephews. In honor of Jimmy Gillpatrick’s service to our country, the flag of the United States Army will be flown at the funeral home on the day of the services and military honors will be rendered at the cemetery.
