Lon C. Johnson, III

Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch Lon Chamberlain Johnson lll, 81, passed away on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at Methodist Hospital in Olive Branch, MS. He was born July 4, 1943 in Memphis, TN to Lon Chamberlain Johnson Jr. and Exa Anna Brewer. Lon was the eldest of four children, Exa Anna Johnson (sister), Arthur Johnson (brother), and Julia Johnson (sister). Mr. Johnson Graduated from Canton High School in 1961. He then attended pharmacy school at The University of Mississippi where he pledged Kappa Sigma social fraternity, and later graduated in 1969. He spent the majority of his pharmacy career in management and worked in every facet of pharmacy except for hospital and research. He was a mentor to many who worked with him. Lon’s destiny was to love others the way Jesus did. Everyone he ever came across, he made sure they knew God. Throughout his life he enjoyed chaperoning youth trips, mission trips, and teaching Sunday School. He was a member of Mineral Wells Church, but has been active in Baptist, Catholic, and Methodist churches throughout his life. On the day of his passing, he reminded his family by saying, “It’s okay, don't be upset. I'm going to be in a better place, to be with Jesus.” He was a kind-hearted, gentle soul. He always had unconditional love. He was a humorous man, who made anyone's faces light up when you would be in his presence. His loved ones will cherish his memory for generations to come. Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Ela Williams Johnson, children, Ashby (Tammy) Johnson, Brent Johnson, Kristi Johnson Warren, Lonna Johnson, Brian (Krisanie) Laveck, and Charlie Levack, 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and a plethora of friends from all over the United States. He was preceded in death and welcomed into heaven by Dr. Lon C. Johnson (grandfather), Annie Hale Johnson (grandmother), James Wilbur Brewer (grandfather), Molly Dunning Brewer (grandmother), Lon Chamberlain Johnson Jr. (father), Exa Ana Brewer (mother), Exa Ana Johnson (sister), Arthur Johnson (brother), Julia Johnson (sister). Friends are invited to join the family for a visitation on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch. A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Rev.
