Ray Garland Patterson

Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch Ray Garland Patterson, 84 years old, of Byhalia, MS, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, February 21, 2025, at his home in the presence of his wife of 46 years, Maxine Patterson. Friends are invited to a visitation with the family on Friday, February 28, 2025, from 12:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m., all at Coleman Funeral Home of Olive Branch. The graveside service will be held at Blocker Cemetery. Bro. Oscar Geeslin will officiate the service. Garland was born and raised in Casey County, KY. He came to Mississippi in 1970, where he resided until his death. He attended First Baptist Church in Olive Branch and was a mason of 61 years. His career was in printing. Garland enjoyed singing and playing guitar as well as writing his own songs. His hobbies included riding horses, hunting, fishing, and playing checkers and dominos. Garland’s favorite time of the week was playing and singing at Roy’s Hoot and Friends in Olive Branch. To see him singing some of his favorite songs, visit his YouTube Channel @garlandpatterson8560. He was once featured in Desoto Co. Magazine as Olive Branch’s singing cowboy. Garland is survived by his spouse, Maxine Patterson; two children, Pamela McClanahan (Tommy) of Lebanon, TN, and Stuart Patterson (Diana) of Yosemite, KY; two step-children, Ronnie Hodge of Millington, TN, and Todd Hodge of Byhalia, MS; grandchildren, Hunter Patterson, Taylor Riggins (Cameron), Kayla McClanahan (Hunter); two brothers, Jerry Patterson of Liberty, KY, and Roscoe Patterson (Jo Etta) of Dunville, KY; step-grandchildren, Alexis Hodge, Shelby Hodge, Calvin Hodge, Landon Hodge, Ashley Hill, Stephanie Eason, Rusty Berry (Kayla), and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Lola Patterson; brother, Phillip Patterson; and two sisters, Christine Cravens and Pauline Morgan.
